Knight Family Addition – Case Study

THE KNIGHT FAMILY ADDITION CASE STUDY

Aaron and Rebecca Knight lived in a cozy three bedroom cape in Norwell, Ma. The house lot contains slightly under an acre of land. Their dream was to construct a master bedroom suite on the first floor and convert two small bedrooms on the second floor into a large single bedroom for their two boys and giving their daughter the former master bedroom. Dream Builderz sat with the Knights and our architect to work out the final details of the plan which included a cathedral ceiling, an arched window on the gable end over the bed and the sizing of windows to accommodate furniture; after our meeting and some e-mails, we had our final design. The next step was to apply for and obtain all the necessary permits for the project which included a zoning variance for an undersized lot.

When it came time for the public hearing for the zoning variance, the Knights were on a long planned family vacation and Dream Builderz represented them with success!

This project required Dream Builderz to move the interior water well location, cut the existing foundation for access into the new foundation area as well as additional boring for HVAC. Dream Builderz also cut the basement floor in order to attach the new master bathroom drains to the septic system.

The finished master bedroom suite is quite elegant featuring cherry cabinets in the bath, a whirlpool with ceramic tile deck, walls and floor. French doors open into the master bedroom exposing the luxurious cherry wood flooring.

Dream Builderz also installed new six panel pine doors in the remainder of the first floor and stained them to match the existing trim; we refinished the oak flooring in the remainder of the home, providing for quite the presentation as you enter.

Sincerely,
Anthony P. LaPuma
