Remodel Bathroom, Sundeck – Case Study

Kathy McIntyre contacted Dream Builderz in the spring of 2010 about the possibility of building a new sundeck and remodeling her bathroom. We met studied her goals and went to work. Kathy’s home is a circa 1950 cape with a typical bath room for that period. Our goal was to transform that room into a modern bath with walk in shower, elevated water closet, pedestal sink and new three foot wide entry door. This was no small endeavor, requiring a complete demolition of the old bathroom, reframing for the walk in shower; a new vinyl window with PVC trim in order to make it water proof; new framing for the new door and new plumbing to accommodate the change in fixtures. The finished product is a very rich looking bath room with porcelain tiles on the walls and floors.

The sundeck was built in order to eliminate a step from the house to the deck. Due to changes in zoning we had to reconfigure the sundeck and move it to the rear of the house with an access landing and stairs wrapping around to the drive way side of the house. We also had to move a spigot and electrical receptacle. Kathy is quite pleased with the final results!!
